eForce Compliance President Interviewed on Philadelphia’s WHYY News

eForce Compliance President Jay Segal was recently interviewed by reporter Carolyn Beeler from WHYY on the importance of responsible electronic recycling. The interview took place at the company's induction ceremony into the EPA's Sustainability Partnership Program. As e-waste becomes an increasingly large segment of the municipal waste stream, it is now more important than ever that potentially hazardous materials get disposed of properly. Serious implications can result from improperly discarded electronics, such as chemicals seeping into our public waterways.

Many people don't realize that their old TV's, computers and cell phones contain hazardous chemicals, which is why many of these items get tossed in the trash. Even for consumers who try to recycle their electronics, it is often difficult to track where their electronics ultimately end up. With eForce Compliance on track to becoming R2 certified this summer, its customers don't need to worry about the final disposition of their materials: they all end up being recycled at the eForce facility located in the Grays Ferry section of the city.

The EPA has recognized R2 certification and eForce anticipates becoming the first R2 certified recycler in the metro-Philadelphia area by mid-summer. R2 was an inevitable step for the founders of eForce who have been recycling electronics for over 28 years and values operating their business the right way, explained Segal.

Dan Gallo, from the Environmental Protection Agency, was also interviewed on the requirements for the EPA's R2 certification.
