glass

Not all glass is recyclable and it is important to understand the different types of glass and how they are recycled. For instance, glass found in light bulbs, cookware, and window panes contain ceramics, thus limiting recycle options due to impurities.

Glass that is recyclable can be recycled over and over again. Recovered glass from recycling is used as the major ingredient in new glass manufacturing. Glass containers come in four different colors: clear, blue, brown and green; glass must be separated by color to ensure that new glass is not created from a mix of colors.

As with all of our recycling programs, an in depth analysis of what types and quantities of glass your organization generates is the first step towards the establishment of an effective recycling program.
